About Us

Ian and I both grew up by the English seaside, hence, I believe, our love of water. We bought our first boat, a small powerboat, in 2004 and spent several years buzzing around a small lake in Ontario. Ian then set his sights on a sailboat, any type of boat was fine by me. So in 2007 we became the proud owners of a used Jeanneau 40' monohull which we learned to sail on Georgian Bay, Lake Huron. We took the requisite courses during the winters and spent one week with a sail captain in the BVI's to improve our skills. We spent as much time as possible on the boat during our short seasons here and realized we loved the boating life.

Around this time I started reading boating blogs about people living and traveling on their sailboats, a life style that became more and more appealing.  Ian was now regularly checking out boats for sale on Yacht World and after chartering both mono's and catamaran's it became obvious to us that a catamaran was the way to go.

We first stepped aboard an Antares 44 at the 2011 Miami boat show and loved the boat. By December of that year we had put down our deposit and signed up for a new Antares 44i catamaran.

Fast forward two years. The family dog has passed on, the children have left home, the house and first two boats have been sold and Ian has retired.  Our boat, Zooropa ( named after a U2 album and song- we are big fans!) will be the next boat to be splashed by Antares in Buenos Aires, hopefully by the end of this month (March). We are beyond excited and so ready to begin this new phase of our lives.  PB
